Knaresborough Town were not at their best, but were very happy to take full points from their trip to Bottesford Town and break a sequence of six league matches without a victory.

With Nathan Cartman having departed for Hallam, Knaresborough drafted in Alex Ingham from the reserves and he celebrated his full debut by robbing a defender of the ball in the 9th minute and smashing a fine shot high into the net.

A Ewan Gregson deflected shot nearly added to the score, but then the home side were awarded a 20th minute penalty and Reece Moody equalised.

Jack Yates then broke free for Bottesford, but Tommy Brown was alert and saved well.

In the 36th minute, Ben Parkes was brought down and Knaresborough were awarded a penalty which captain Parkes converted himself.

Brown then saved a Bobby Attree header and saw Yates hit wide after a left wing cross.

Sam Cook, on his first start of the campaign had an overhead effort saved just before the break and then headed Gregson’s centre against the crossbar early in the second period. He then headed over and was in the thick of things again in the 59th minute when Ingham hit home his second after his first effort came back from the bar.

Yates fired over again, but then Cook got his reward when he made it 4-1 by heading in Gregson’s free kick from the right wing in the 70th minute.

Ingham had a great run, but shot wide before being substituted late in the contest. Jake Rose was wide with his effort before Brown saved late on from Josh Fawcett as Knaresborough held on to their advantage.
