Knaresborough Town went out of the Emirates FA Cup at the Preliminary round stage after a 3-1 home defeat to Northern Premier League side, Dunston UTS , at Manse Lane on Saturday.

The first period was cagey with both sides treating their opponents with a great deal of respect and few chances were created.

Danny Edwards was wide for Knaresborough early on before Sado Djalo hit wide for the visitors when well-placed.

Tommy Brown saved a low shot from Jordan Lamb and then saw a David Robinson effort fly over the bar before Dunston went ahead in the 34th minute.

A cross from the dangerous Lamb on the right found its way to Djalo who slammed home before he could be closed down.

After half time, it was again more of the same respectful play before Djalo slipped a short pass through the defence for Robinson to make it 2-0 in the 59th minute.

In the very next attack, Brown was alleged to have tripped Lamb and Dale Pearson stepped up to fire in the resultant penalty.

That goal spurred Knaresborough who then produced their most positive period of the match with three substitutes figuring strongly. One of those, Jack Emmett, slammed home a fine shot into the top right corner of the net from twenty five yards to give his side some hope, but Dunston held firm despite surrendering some possession and progressed to the first qualifying round.
