Another home game, and another hard-fought victory on Saturday as the team overcame Frickley Athletic 2-0.

Brad Walker had a glorious chance to open the scoring in the third minute as he broke clear, only to see his shot saved by Callum Bradbury in the Frickley goal.

The visitors then hit back and Reives Boocock fired well over from inside the area.

Walker then made amends for his miss when, in the 6th minute, he fired inside the near post after a left wing centre had been blocked.

Jack Emmett then sent Ewan Gregson free of the back line but the shot was wide of the mark as was a header from Eddie Cass from Gregson’s corner a few minutes later.

The second goal arrived in the 19th minute when the ball broke favourably to Danny Edwards who had a simple task to round Bradbury and tap home.

The forward pair combined again when Edwards headed on for Walker to break through on goal, only to fire wide again and the half ended with another Cass header just wide from Gregson’s free kick.

Walker was wide again soon after the break and Bradbury saved another shot from the same player from Emmett’s centre.

Emmett himself had a volley saved and Richard Collier shot over for Frickley before the game disintegrated into a very fractious ending.

Lloyd Smith was initially sin binned for Frickley but before he left the field, he was shown a red card for something he said to the referee.

Several cautions were given as tackles became reckless and then Knaresborough were also reduced to ten men when George Thewlis was stupidly dragged into a confrontation and came off with another red card.
