Three days after the league win at Goole, Knaresborough achieved a second comfortable victory over the same opponents when a 3-0 score line saw the team progress to the quart-final of the West Riding County F.A. County Cup at Manse Lane.

A cagey opening again followed on from Saturday, as Lewis Stephens was wide from Ewan Gregson’s early corner and full back, Phil Milsom hit the side-netting after Sam Cook headed on a cross.

Cook himself headed wide from another Gregson free kick before Knaresborough went ahead in the 20th minute.

A left wing corner, again from Gregson, was knocked out to Milsom who controlled at the edge of the penalty area before volleying into the far corner.

Gregson himself nearly got in on the act as he broke free only to pull his shot wide and Eddie Cass then headed wide.

Jack Emmett shot against a post in the second half, but as both sides made several changes, the play became scrappy and it was not until the 66th minute that Knaresborough got the decisive second.

Good work from Dom Creamer resulted in a block and the ball ran to Ben Parkes who made not mistake from the edge of the area.

A Creamer shot was then blocked on the line before Gregson’s cross from the right was headed home at the back post by a delighted Parkes for his second and his side’s third in the 79th minute.

A late clearance again denied Creamer a goal, but Knaresborough were good value for the victory and a third success over Goole this season.
