Knaresborough Town were beaten for the third time in the last four games thanks to a blitz in the first half an hour from visitors, Pensitone Church on Saturday.

Antony Brown fired two shots wide for Penistone in the first three minutes, but it was Knaresborough who took the lead in the fifth minute when Dom Creamer crossed from the left for Nathan Cartman to control, turn and fire home a fine shot.

Penistone pressed immediately and Brown crossed for Nathan Keightley to fire home in the seventh minute.

The home defence was in disarray and in the very next minute, the ball was not cleared and Tom Charlesworth was on hand to make it 2-1 to the visitors.

In the fifteenth minute, that lead became 3-1 when Brown leapt highest to head home a right wing corner and in the 26th minute Kieran Ryan fired low across goal for Keightley to tap home the fourth Penistone strike.

Home supporters were both amazed and confused at the state of the game, but gradually their team settled and Creamer smashed a shot against the crossbar and then Cameron Bedford crossed low from the left for Jack Carr to fire home in the 38th minute.

Ryan fired another shot over before half time before Bedford shot against a post immediately after the break and Carr was wide from the follow up.

Kieghtley then fired over and Creamer had a shot kept out by Harry Ambler in the Church goal, but after the glut of goals in the first half, the second remained without further addition as Knaresborough failed to beat Penistone for the fifteenth time in the fifteen games contested between the sides since 2014.
